Friendship Club

The MH Friendship Club is committed to helping people with mental illness in Cattaraugus County stay out of hospitals while achieving their own personal goals. Members and staff are involved in all aspects of operation of the Club.

CRITERIA for membership: Any interested individual must be 18 or older, seeing a mental health provider, living in or receiving services from Cattaraugus County. A $6.00 per month membership fee is due by the 10th of each month. This fee helps to defray the cost of activities.

RECOVERY MODEL: We believe in the Recovery Model which simply means: The process in which people are able to live, work, learn, set their own goals and participate fully in their communities. Recovery can mean living a fulfilling life despite a disability and having a reduction or complete remission of symptoms.

WHAT IS EXPECTED Members are expected to take an active part in the daily running of the Social Club by signing up for a chore. These chores range from sweeping to cooking, from washing dishes to helping in the office with filing and the newsletter. By completeing these chores, members earn credits that can be used for purchasing items in the thrifty niche, going on trips, or getting a month's free membership.
