PEER SERVICES

We believe that peer support is a unique and essential element of recovery-oriented mental health makes use of empathy and empowerment to help support and inspire recovery. Peer support provides an opportunity for peers who have significantly recovered from their illness to assist others in the recovery process. More

PEER TRAINING AND EMPOWERMENT

The Mental Health Association works in partnership with peers and others to promote recipient empowerment through training and education. Activities focus on providing peers with the knowledge and skills they want to work toward recovery and to succeed in the community. More

MENTAL HEALTH EDUCATION

The Mental Health Association’s educational activities are designed to promote mentally healthy attitudes and choices, combat stigma and promote understanding of mental illnesses, the mental health delivery system, and treatment options. More

RESOURCES

  • Community Awareness Tuesdays: On the first Tuesday of every month in 2009, come see representatives from agencies around the community describe their services; you may be surprised at what's available!
  • Wellness Recovery Action Plan: Wellness Recovery Action Plan known as the WRAP plan was developed by Mary Ellen Copeland, who suffered herself from mental illness and is now a mental health recovery advocate. Please click to view WRAP materials for free.
  • Advance Directives: A legal document in the state of New York, it is similar to the Living Will, however the Advanced Directive is the only document that gives an individual a say in their own mental health treatment.
