What is COMPEER for Youth?

IMPORTANCE OF RELATIONSHIP:

Relationships impact brain and body chemistry! Relationships provide the motivation, modeling, and practice that is needed to make behavioral change. Going out to eat, listening to music in the car, and taking a walk all increase oxytocin! Modeling appropriate behavior provides a blueprint from which your friend can learn. Volunteers often comment on how their Compeer friends pick up certain characteristics from them i.e. – please and thank you’s.

When an individual is able to develop and continue long-term relationships, they are more likely to maintain changes that they have made and also adapt them to other situations and settings.
